After a little over 1,000 miles driving from Spokane, WA to the Yellowstone Lake Hotel and back I've realized a few things.

1. That is one beautiful drive even if over half was on the interstate. The mountains, trees, lakes, rivers and streams are spectacular.

2. Montana is not shy handing out 70mph speed limits. A two lane road with no shoulders that winds in and around mountains and lakes? 70! God bless them.

3. An Infiniti G37 is very good at eating up miles but those Goodyear RSAs are NOISY.

4. Some people freak out about passing semis at 75-80mph when there are mountain curves involved even when they are on the interstate. One car, with Illinois plates, drew up even with one and then stayed there blocking the left lane. Thankfully the semi driver saw the backup going on in the left lane and slowed down enough for Mr. Land of Lincoln to pull back to the right.

5. Both bighorn sheep and bison assume that they have the right of way at all times.

I've found that any trip that begins with Spokane in your rearview mirror is a good trip.

Except when you're going to Ritzville, the Tri-Cities or Yakima.
